Personal Finance Bloggers Making An Impact

Aug 29 '06

The Bottom Line Personal finance may not be your favorite subject, but these bloggers make it enjoyable.

Blogging is a huge phenomena that we all know about. Bloggers have debunked military paperwork regarding George W. Bush during the 2004 election, broke news before mainstream media, and recently exposed doctored photos.

But not every type of blogger gets the attention they deserve. If you're a reader of BusinessWeek, Money Magazine and others you've no doubt heard about personal finance bloggers.

::: Personal Finance Bloggers :::

PF bloggers as they're known write articles about budgeting, credit cards, debt management, saving, investing and more. They are an eclectic and [mostly] young group who are on the fight against debt and applaud responsible fiscal management.

It might sound like a really dry topic but you'll find a lot of funny stories, good questions, practical tips and interesting people. It's a neat community and they're always open to helping people.

Get 'em all in one place: PFBlogs.org (www.pfblogs.org) - it's a personal finance blog aggregator.

::: Personal Finance Blogs :::

* MyMoneyBlog (www.mymoneyblog.com) - One of the most widely cited pf blogs in the mainstream media. Very interesting and useful posts. This blog is now home to the Carnival of Investing.

* Blueprint for Financial Prosperity (www.bargaineering.com/articles) - A young man, part of the MoneyBlogNetwork, who shares his opinion on many personal finance issues. Home of the Festival of Frugality.

* Mighty Bargain Hunter (www.mightybargainhunter.com) - "John, aka mbhunter, is a new father in his mid thirties and a scientist by trade." John also hosts the Carnival of Debt Reduction.

* No Credit Needed (www.ncnblog.com) - NCN is all about reducing debt and having fun while doing so. He has a blog, a podcast, and a network site. Very interesting man!

* Boston Gal's Open Wallet (bostongalsopenwallet.blogspot.com) - She lives in Boston. Obvious. But did you know that her net worth is nearly $400,000?! Widely cited by mainstream media, you will have a lot of fun reading her articles.

* Free Money Finance (www.freemoneyfinance.com) - Mentioned in The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, BusinessWeek and For Me Magazine, FMF "[has] found that there is a lack of financial wisdom, real wisdom, out there that is simple and easy to implement. Therefore, this site is an attempt to talk about finances in a simple, easy-to-understand manner that allows the reader to manage his or her finances without a lot of effort."

::: Other Worthy Blogs :::

* It's Just Money (itsjustmoney.blogs.com)
* MyMoneyForest (www.mymoneyforest.com)
* Debt Hater (debthater.typepad.com)
